Fashionable Relay Challenge Post 8

Today I take the virtual baton, spritit stick or call it what you may in the Fashionable Relay Challenge from Gidge Uriza and her Tekeli-Li Malice earrings . She did an awesome job with her outfit and carried one of my favorite colors leaving me little room to improve.  So, I took her item and twisted it every way possible and turned it into something as daring as I could.

There is a larger version of the picture here.

Classic Cars

Posted in Raves with tags , , , , , on February 22, 2009 by aliciamureaux

Classic CarsWhat could possibly go better together than classic cars and an All American girl?  Today’s post has nothing to do with fashion.  In case you didn’t notice from the picture, I have no clothes on.  I stripped down to my shoes in my garage high above my Morning Dew Photography studio and climed up on the hood of my violet AM Pro 1965 GTO.  The car is one of if not the highest detail rides you can find in Second Life.   The 535 prim work of art also comes in silver, red and yellow.  The GTO comes with a retractable roof to let your hair blow in the wind as you work your way through it’s 6 gears.  I’ll leave the rest of the details for you to discover in-world.  Make sure you bring lots of $$ with you if you decide to purchase one of these beauties.  The GTO will cost you $3000L.  Model sold separately and you can’t afford me (insert hysterical laughter here).

The silver on red 1967 Shelby Mustang next to me comes in silver on black, silver on blue and as the black on silver “Eleanor” from the movie ‘Gone in 60 Seconds.  This car is just as detailed as all the vehicles in the shop and carries the same price tag as the GTO.

The motorcycles featured are the AM Pro Tyrant (627 prims) which retail for $2000L.  This is a non themed chopper which comes with a color changing hud for the seat and body and covers 10 different hues.

Not featured in the picture but well worth mentioning is the 1969 Charger that comes in silver or, as you may have guesses, the orange “General Lee” that you see in the ‘Dukes of Hazzard’ complete with the flag on the roof and the 01 on the doors.

There are a few more cars and bikes in the store so the place is definitely worth a look if you are in the car market.

All the cars and bikes sold there come with a display model as well as the drivable version which you wear most of the prims so you are able to rez them most places.

Latex Continued

After taking a deep breath I’ll try and push through the rest of the latex I have in mind in this post.  If you have taken a peek at my flickr photos you have seen the outfits already and now I’ll give you the runway rundown. Next on the list is Hugo’s Design. Also on the internet here.HD Ilya Set 2 This cream latex has tons of options from the low cut top to a complete underbust corset.  The latex heart pasties are included but not necessary to put on if you are trying to attract maximum gawking.  What drew my attention to this outfit was the lace detail of the corset and panties.  While the cut out pants are daring to really sex me up I prever wearing the panty-garter-stockings with the back seam to show off some extra skin. The shininess continues from Hugo with the HD Luna in Pink/Black.  Once again there are many layers to mix up the look as you can see below.  The full open version leaves all your bits on display adding the danger into what some may see as a softer look in latex with the pink. Pants on FIRE! Liar Liar too…

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , on February 18, 2009 by aliciamureaux

Two types of liars I’ll be talking about today. The first is the people that put something in their land description to lure you to their shop. I can’t count the number of times I’ve gone to stores in search of something only to be disappointed that the item doesn’t exist at that location. The second liar is me…..to a point. My last post may have had you thinking that latex is something I don’t care for. Some of my first outfits that were actually purchased in world were latex and I got to thinking, I have so much of it I rarely wear any more. So, that said, I reached into the closet, blew the dust off a few things, got out the corn starch and powdered myself up and put on a few of my favorites to show you. This is going to turn into a very long post, I can feel it in my sexy bone ;).

The first store I’d like to talk about is POC-Powers of Creation. I won’t go into how much latex I have hanging on the cloth hangers in my closet from there but I will tell you there are very few colors of any of the pieces I own from the store.Powers of Creation

Faith Restored and some latex

An update for my last post about returning a gift card.  My $L were returned by the owner! YAY!! THANK YOU for restoring my faith in avimanity ™(C) and making the refund in a timely fashion.  Making up new words is a favorite past time so I thought I would start to trademark and copyright them *giggle*  Feel free to use them though, under a creative commons license *mad laughter*

Speaking of fashion, my good friend Kim Dench is an admin for Kayliwulf Kingdom flickr group showing off some tasty latex.  While my wardrobe doesn’t include much latex these days it can be a fun look.  The group is here.

Gift Cards Revisited

Posted in Rants with tags on February 15, 2009 by aliciamureaux

So I blew it.  I didn’t follow my own advice, sort of.  I purchased a gift card at another store without checking to see if buy with store card option was available first.  The notecard included said items will be delivered anywhere from 2 to 5 days.  I can but items online in the real world and have them arrive quicker.  This was another large and very popular store.  I immediately sent the card back to the owner with a note asking to have my money returned.  It is now closing in on 24 hours since I sent it back.  I’ll update to let you know how long it took.  I’m through with gift cards now.  I’m thinking of including the text of the note included with the card since I find it the most restrictive and difficult to use I’ve run across to date.  Again, nothing at the kiosk explaining how the gift card system works.

Gift Cards:No Easy Sale

Posted in Rants, Uncategorized with tags on February 12, 2009 by aliciamureaux

After 15 months of shopping I’ve decided I HATE GIFT CARDS IN SL!!!  Over the past 24 hours I have run across a couple situations that have driven me stark raving mad.  Keep in mind I have a screw loose to begin with but all the same these things came close to pushing me to the brink.  The stores will remain nameless but use this as a guide to carefully select where you get a card.

Scenario 1:  Take my new card to store X and drool of outfit one, buy with card…..success.  Find another droolable dress try to use card….only “buy” option and no “use card” option.  Hmmm. Try the next one with no success.  Ok, maybe sl is having difficulties.  Come back later, still no luck using the card.  Deciding to try random items and finding some of them available for purchase with store card and some not.  Puzzled I send a note to owner and get a reply that only items from one of the designers are available for store purchase and “fat packs” are also not restricted.  So I take my card and pick and choose from what I can to use up my $1500L and move on not quite as excited with my purchases.  Later I learn the store has made changes and made everything available through the gift card system which solves future issues for the next shopaholic but has left me feeling a little bit burned having “settled” for some items when I really wanted others.  Lesson learned.

Scenario 2:  Receive a gift certificate for store Y and find out I have to make my choices, fill out a notecard and send it back with the gift certificate texture to the owner who will then send my items to me.  Sorry for the impatience but in the information age lil ole me is impatient and wants instant gratification.  We’ll see how quickly the turn around is on the notecard to delivery.  Hopefully this will be quick for the $1000L spent.  I could understand this system for a small shop not wanting to buy the store card system or develop one of their own but this was a large store with many items and could easily afford the system without breaking the bank.

Those are a couple of what appear to be isolated cases with most store cards working like a charm.  I’ve been able to get my shop on many times before with great success.

Moral of today’s story? KISS-Keep it simple stupid.  I get that from my friends all the time and I’m begging (/me says pretty please)  anyone that is considering gift cards in SL to look around a little before you buy one for someone so they don’t have to go through any hassles making what should be fun and easy purchases.  To the store owners: make it fun and easy and I’ll be back to add to my huge inventory 🙂
